Danielle Buglino
“Hi! My name is Danielle and I’m based in New York City. I have been a distance runner for over 15 years, and have tackled all races from the 5K to the Marathon! Running has always been my passion and what lights my fire. That passion has grown to make me want to share my experience and love of running with others, and see athletes accomplish their goals. As someone that works a demanding, full-time job in Manhattan, I know it can be challenging to find the time to workout and stay healthy. With 4 Half Marathons and 4 Full Marathons under my belt in the past few years, my goal is to share my expertise in time management and sustainable, long-term workout plans to help you take the guesswork out of fitness and reach your goals. I am here to provide you with a plan, structure, fueling tips, gear advice and most of all MOTIVATION! You can do hard things. Let's tackle them together.”

My Running Experience
Since the day I joined the cross-country team in middle school, I fell in love with distance running. I’ve been running and competing since the 7th grade, and with my high school and collegiate running career behind me, I’ve shifted into longer distance running and have taken on various 10Ks, Half Marathons and Full Marathons, with some listed below. While my main personal focus is on long distance running and recently trail racing, I still love to dabble in short speedy races and have experience running and coaching in anything from the 5K to the Full Marathon. Below are some race highlights of mine over the past few years!
Trail Racing
NYC Trail Fest Half Marathon 2024
An incredible trail race hosted on a Friday night on the Palisades trail overlooking the Hudson River and west side of Manhattan. This was my first half marathon on the trails and I absolutely loved it. Got a little lost but raced with my fiance and had an awesome crab cake afterwards!
Mayapple 10 Mile Trail Race 2024
This was a TOUGH RACE but so much fun and really rewarding. I was the first female finisher in the 10 miler and boy did I fight for that spot. I met some wonderful runners along the way and we struggled up the hills together and managed to find our way back to the trail after getting lost together. This race made me hungry for longer trail races!
Big Bear Squatch 10K Mountain Race 2024
My first trail race since college cross-country… and this was MOUNTAINOUS! It was a really fun surprise coming in first for the women of this race, and the views up top were spectacular. I remembered how much I love getting muddy. Added bonus was that my mom came to this race!
Half Marathons
Rockaway Beach Half Marathon 2023
This race was part of my marathon build for Berlin. It was a humid, rainy morning down on the boardwalk of Rockaway Beach, Long Island. My dad stood under a pavilion for 1 hour and 43 minutes watching me run by a few times back and forth on the boardwalk. This was a great workout and gave me confidence for my upcoming marathon.
Ithaca Gorges Half Marathon 2022
This was the first race my fiance and I ever ran together! A canopied, lush green trail in the Finger Lakes made for probably one of the most beautiful and scenic races I’ve ever done at that point. Despite coming off a recent knee injury and my fiance just having had Covid a month prior, we did pretty well for ourselves and clocked a 1:44.
Shape Women’s Half Marathon 2019
This race was one of my favorites of all time. It’s an all women’s race and it is 2 loops around Central Park in New York City. It was the most perfect April morning and I ran my personal best of 1:40. Being surrounded by women the whole race was incredibly empowering and emotional. I highly recommend this race if you live in the NYC area.
Baltimore Half Marathon 2018
My first ever half marathon! This was such an emotional race for me, I was running in my college city with some friends from school and had an awesome race. The city of Baltimore comes alive for the annual Baltimore Running Festival. This day inspired me to come back the next year and do my first marathon at this festival.
Marathons
Berlin Marathon 2023
This race holds a special place in my heart, but not because it was great. It was the worst race of my life, but I learned so much from it. It was my first international race and I did it all wrong. From the dehydration to the jet lag and my fueling– it has taught me more than any other race has. After having all my prior marathons be generally wonderful experiences, this race really humbled me and showed me a level of grit I had inside that I didn’t even realize was there. I am more proud of crossing this finish line than any other.
New York City Marathon 2022
I waited 3 years and went through 3 training cycles before lining up at the Staten Island bridge. After the pandemic caused this race to be canceled, to a back injury in 2021, to finally making it in 2022, the third time is indeed the charm. Despite 80 degree temps and missing my wave start time because of travel logistics, this race was ELECTRIC. If you are curious about the marathon, I recommend this one because it’s a party the entire way. New York City comes alive for you.
“Virtual” Long Island Marathon 2020
This still is one of the best days of my life. I was training for the NYC Marathon in 2020 and of course, the race got canceled. I decided that I put in all this work and was having a great training block that I wanted to see what I could do. I set a date, picked a bike trail in my hometown and enlisted friends to bike alongside me for 26.2 miles as mobile aid stations. My family and friends showed up on a Saturday morning for my virtual marathon with confetti guns, cowbells and custom t-shirts. I ran my personal best of 3:27 and had my best friends and mom beside me the whole way, with other family members and friends driving up and down the bike trail to cheer for me at different spots. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever done.
Baltimore Marathon 2019
Your first marathon is one you just simply never forget. I am forever grateful for this day. Baltimore holds a special place in my heart and after running my first half marathon there just the year prior, I knew I had to come back to do my first marathon there, too. The city comes together for this running festival. The course takes you through so many different neighborhoods and areas of the city, and people are outside of their storefronts or on their house porches and cheering so hard for you. I cried in this race from joy and crossed the line with the biggest smile on my face. Not many people can say that, and I have Baltimore to thank for that experience.
